3 Years Tales from the Pandemic
The World Health Organization declared Covid-19 outbreak as a pandemic in March 2020. In May 2023, 3 years 3 months later, World Health Organization lifted the Health Emergency related to Covid-19. WHO Covid-19 Health Topic Resource. Covid-19 was a virus that affected everyone in the world.
This community is to celebrate the creative individuals and the personal stories that developed from this global event. From artist to storytellers and musicians to crafters, all creative fields are welcome to join our community. We are here to support, network, and share our creative interests. While the Pandemic was a tragic event, we can join together and bring our creative light to brighten the world we live in.

Aleks Smith
The pandemic completely changed the direction of my life. Before it began, I was working as a hairstylist, and most of my artistic expression came through doing hair. I had always been around crafts because my mom had been making things for as long as I could remember, but I never really had the time to sink into creating for myself.
Aleks’ work is guided by curiosity, humor, and the freedom to create without strict rules. He is especially drawn to monsters because they can take any shape his imagination allows, from cute and squishy creatures to strange figures with large eyes, unsettling mouths, and eldritch-horror-inspired details. Working primarily with worsted-weight acrylic yarn, he creates keychains, crocheted characters, and “little guys” monsters that combine crochet with needle-felted features. Many pieces are produced in small batches based on whatever ideas he feels most inspired to explore.
